BSBR Educational Webinar Series 2025

The BSBR is keen to foster interest in breast imaging and support the on-going education of breast imaging professionals. With this in mind, we are hosting a series of webinars focused on advances and recent developments in breast imaging.

The webinars are suitable for trainee radiologists, allied health professionals with an interest in breast imaging, breast imaging consultants and specialists and anyone considering a career in breast radiology.

The webinar series will be delivered via the OnAir platform. Links giving access to each webinar will be sent to registered participants a few days before it starts.

Attendance is free of charge to members and non-members, but registration is compulsory.

Webinar 1: 1800 Thursday 27th March 2025 Imaging of Metastatic Breast Cancer by Dr Shaheel Buva

Dr Shaheel Bhuva is a Consultant Radiologist at Oxford University Hospitals, UK, specialising in positron emission tomography/ computed tomography (PET-CT) and cross-sectional oncology imaging. 

He joined Oxford as a screening and symptomatic Consultant Breast Radiologist and lead radiologist for the Metastatic Breast Cancer multidisciplinary meeting. He has been a Lecturer in Pre-Clinical Medicine and Undergraduate Tutor at Worcester College, University of Oxford; completed his post-CCT Clinical Fellowship in PET Imaging at King’s College London- Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, his radiology training at Leeds University Teaching Hospitals. Shaheel is an Audit Advisory Committee member for the National Audit of Metastatic Breast Cancer (NaoMe), has published multiple articles in peer-review journals, and regularly delivers national and international presentations for which he has won several international wards. He is an enthusiastic educator and faculty member for several national and international radiology courses. He has been nominated for, and won, multiple undergraduate and postgraduate teaching awards, and Staff Recognition Awards at Oxford University Hospitals.

Webinar 3: 1800 Thursday 24th July 2025 AI Use in Breast Imaging by Dr Amrita Kumar.

Dr Amrita Kumar has been named 2023 Top 60 Influential Women in UK for leading innovation in the use of AI within the NHS.  She is a nationally recognised and published clinician implementing AI in the UK, working with vendors, academia, across 5 NHS hospital providers in Southeast England covering a population of 6 million, undertaking real-world implementation and prospective AI trials in breast and lung cancer pathways. She won the 2024 NHS Parliamentary Award for the first of its kind AI working group in UK setting up formal AI implementation and governance frameworks, which has been used as an exemplar across multiple NHS hospitals. Amrita was appointed as Chair for the National AI & Innovation Special Interest Group at the British Institute of Radiology in 2022 where she advise on AI strategy and implementation within healthcare in UK. She has been appointed as an AI advisor to Royal College of Radiologist & NHS England/Department of Health in 2023 to aid in development of an NHS AI strategy. She has recently moved to UAE where she is will bring her expertise in AI implementation and governance frameworks to clinical pathways.
